As part of BusinessMirror’s campaign to promote everyone’s safety and well-being during the global health crisis caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, we have invited established and independent artists to perform at least one song in their own homes while urging everyone to stay indoors.
Miko Eugenio is a singer-songwriter mentored by Pido Lalimarmo, who is best known for fronting the band, Artstart, a dominant force in the live circuit during the 1990s.
Prior to the pandemic, Miko regularly played at several bars around Metro Manila and has opened for Pido, Nina, Thor, Paolo Santos, Jimmy Bondoc and Crib. His musical influences include Jason Mraz, John Mayer, Jaime Cullum and James Taylor.
For his SoundStrip Live & in Quarantine session, Miko is performing an acoustic ballad called “53” which he is dedicating to all the guys who pursue girls with the purest of intentions but remain unsuccessful. But why the title “53?” Miko says it’s because he wrote the song on Day 53 of the lockdown or Enhanced Community Quarantine, which goes to show that even the most adverse circumstances can bring out the best in an artist’s creativity.
