The Department of Health (DOH) has created “Oplan Recovery” to get the true number of patients who have recovered from Covid-19.
In a media forum, Health Undersecretary Maria Rosario Vergeire said that Oplan Recovery was created last week as some of the recoveries no longer report to the Barangay Health Emergency Response Team (BHERT) after they complete their 14-day quarantine right and after being discharged from the hospital.
“That’s why we are validating and calling all those in the list [of recoveries discharged from hospital] which were not tagged [right after their 14-day quarantine] as recovered [or recoveries], Vergeire told BusinessMirror in a text message when sought for clarification.
Under the Oplan Recovery, those recoveries will be monitored by BHERTs so that they can be reported to the DOH after completing their quarantine period.
“So there should be a mechanism where we can tag positive individuals as recovered and [they will be] reported immediately to DOH,” she said.
The timeline, she said, to be able to tag those recoveries and be able to record the actual number is two weeks.
The DOH underscored the importance of the actual number of recoveries to be reported to determine the “curve of the pandemic”.
It is also a way to show that infected persons can be cured.
Covid cases
As of 4 p. m. of June 2, 2020, the DOH reported the total number of Covid-19 cases at 18,997.
In addition to the 176 fresh cases,183 late cases were also reported. The fresh cases are based on the daily accomplishment reports submitted by only 38 out of 42 current operational laboratories.
The DOH also said that there were 84 recoveries. This brings the total number of recoveries to 4,063.
Meanwhile, 6 deaths were reported. The death toll stood at 966.
