As part of BusinessMirror’s campaign to promote everyone’s safety and well-being during the global health crisis caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, we have invited established and independent artists to perform at least one song in their own homes while urging everyone to stay indoors.
Reymond Sajor has been singing since he was a young boy and won his first singing contest by the time he was in fifth grade. Although he went on to take courses in advertising and hotel and restaurant management, he also took up voice at the University of Santo Tomas Conservatory of Music.
As a singer, Reymond continued to do well in singing competitions. He won the grand prize in the Hamilton Talent Hunt in Canada where he was the only Filipino finalist. He made it to the Top 12 of the first and only season of Philippine Idol in 2006. The following year, he won as grand champion vocalist of the world in the World Championships of Performing Arts in Hollywood. He landed in the Top 6 of the Indonesian talent search series, Golden Memories Asia. He also had a distinguished stint as a member of the group 5thGen.
In recent years, Reymond has been very active with singing engagements and recording of his own original material like “Lupakan,” “Paglimot” and the song he chose to sing for SoundStrip Live & in Quarantine, “Road Trip.”
Released last year by Ivory Music, “Road Trip” is a mid-tempo ditty that, according to Reymond, is about journeying through life. It’s also about hoping that someone can journey with you even though the future is uncertain.”
Whatever the future brings, here’s hoping we can count on Reymond Sajor’s uplifting music to somehow help us navigate these uncharted waters.
