As part of BusinessMirror’s campaign to promote everyone’s safety and well-being during the global health crisis caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, we have invited established and independent artists to perform at least one song in their own homes while urging everyone to stay indoors.
Danyel Castro or simply Danyel is a singer-songwriter from Laoag, Ilocos Norte who started composing her first somg when she was only 9 years old.
Since then, Danyel continued to pursue her passion for music, writing more songs about the things that imspire her to the things that fascinate her about other people’s experiences.
Along with ABY, Steph Martell, Agatha Leigh, Anna Aquino and Not November who were all recently featured here in SoundStrip Live & in Quarantine, Danyel is also a proud alumna of the PhilPop Songwriting Bootcamp where she learned from distinguished mentors like Noel Cabangon, Jim Paredes, Trina Belamide, Ben&Ben, Davey Langit, Thyro & Yumi and National Artist for Music Ryan Cayabyab, among others.
“I learned so much about songwriting and taking something that inspires you, and turning it into something that other people can relate to,” she said in recalling her wonderful experience at the PhilPop bootcamp.
For her SoundStrip Live & in Quarantine session, Danyel will perform a song that is very personal to her.
“My song ‘Into The Light’ is about empathizing with someone who’s in a bad place mentally or emotionally and letting them know that everything’s going to be alright and that you’ll always be there for them,” she revealed.
With this global pandemic, it’s no surprise that not a few people are now in that “bad place” that this young artist is referring to. Through her poignant ballad, Danyel is hoping to shine a bright light amid the increasing darkness.
