As part of BusinessMirror’s campaign to promote everyone’s safety and well-being during the global health crisis caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, we have invited established and independent artists to perform at least one song in their own homes while urging everyone to stay indoors.
Formed in 1997, Imago went on to become one of the groups that defined alternative pop at the start of the new millennium with big hits like “Akap,” “Taralets” and “Sundo.”
Over the years, the band has undergone several lineup changes and is currently composed of Myrene Academia on bass, Kiara San Luis on vocals, Tim Cacho and Zach Lucero on guitars and Mervin Panganiban on drums.
Imago also continued to release original material and just recently dropped their new EP, Imago: Unplugged. The latest recording is a collection of stripped-down versions of their greatest hits like “Sundo,” “Akap,” “Taralets,” and one of their latest singles “Pag-ibig na Walang Balik,” sung by the band’s newest vocalist Kiara San Luis.
On top of their Unplugged EP, the band is also busy creating new tracks to continue their evolution, including their latest single “Partida (featuring BenteDos).” This new track blends together Kiara’s sweet vocals with a surprising hip-hop twist from featured artist BenteDos. The song also explores themes of the risk-taking involved when heading into a romantic relationship.
For their SoundStrip Live & in Quarantine, Myrene, Tim and Kiara of Imago are giving fans a double treat with quarantine performances of both “Pag-Ibig na Walang Balik” and “Partida” featuring BenteDos.
