One of the most modern Stage 3 ambulances currently in the country, based on the latest model of the Ford Transit utility van, has been turned over to the Department of Transportation (DOTr) and the Philippine Ports Authority (PPA) today, May 29, 2020. The ambulance unit was donated as part of the P100-million funding support from the Lopez Group of Companies.
PPA General Manager Jay Santiago presented the donated ambulance to DOTr Secretary Arthur Tugade. The transportation chief was also accompanied by DOTr Assistant Secretary for Procurement and Project Implementation Giovanni Lopez.
The medical service vehicle is equipped with a medical wall wide cabinet, collapsible and scoop stretchers, and automated external defibrillator (AED). It also features a divider with sliding window, two-seater and three-seater with backrest foldable and seatbelt, and a stainless ramp, among others.
The ambulance is likewise supplied with medical consumables and equipped with the necessary medical devices for the emergency treatment of patients, such as first aid kit, minor surgical kit, and nebulizer kit.
This will complement the operations of the COVID-19 quarantine facilities in Pier 15 at the Manila South Harbor. These quarantine facilities, composed of two quarantine vessels and a quarantine terminal, were established by the DOTr and its attached agencies as part of the government’s response efforts to contain the spread of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19).
