As part of BusinessMirror’s campaign to promote everyone’s safety and well-being during the global health crisis caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, we have invited established and independent artists to perform at least one song in their own homes while urging everyone to stay indoors.
Jahlel Lorezo aka Ethan Loukas has been singing since he was 8 years old. Having a mother as a vocal coach who would wake him up as early as 5 in the morning for his vocalization exercises certainly helped in his development as an artist.
Ethan would then win singing contests during high school and college. Carrying the stage name Ethan Loukas, nicknamed EL derived from his original name Jahl”el”, he has played all throughout Visayas and in many occasions, in Metro Manila.
Since 2018, he has been releasing singles under Warner Music Philippines and among his popular songs are “I Mean Love,” “Para sa Akin,” “Dance with Me,” “Meant to Be” (a collaboration with Leanne and Naara) and the song he’s performing for SoundStrip Live & in Quarantine, “Enough.”
Now based in Iloilo, in his hometown of Kabankalan, Negros, Ethan plans to expand his music throughout the Philippines and hopefully the world. It looks like he’s on his way, too as he currently has over 72,000 monthly listeners on Spotify alone.
Talking about his acoustic ballad, “Enough,” Ethan says the song deals with the success, expectations, pressure, and contentment a person has gone through in life. These are certainly things that are worth reflecting on during this ongoing pandemic.
