As part of BusinessMirror’s campaign to promote everyone’s safety and well-being during the global health crisis caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, we have invited established and independent artists to perform at least one song in their own homes while urging everyone to stay indoors.
Alex Bruce was only 11-years old when she first rose to prominence via YouTube/ Less than a year after posting her very first video, the charismatic Batangas-based rapper racked up 1.6 million views for her sensational live performance of her hit, “Mind as a Weapon” at the Wish 107.5 bus.
To prove that she’s no flash in the pan, Alex continues to be a strong presence not only on YouTube but also on other social media platforms like Facebook where she also generates an impressive amount of views with every new post including videos of her other hits, “Pull It Off” and “Dopest.”
For SoundStrip Live & in Quarantine, Alex performs a special home version of her latest single, “Go Crazy.” The song is actually a collaboration with with Filipino-Canadian songwriter and producer August Rigo, the other half of the songwriting duo behind BTS’s worldwide smash “Black Swan.”
“Go Crazy” is somewhat of a departure from Alex’s gangsta style of rap. She said she wanted to do “something mellow and chill and something out of her comfort zone” and got her wish when her label Sony Music Philippines gave her the opportunity to work with Rigo.
“The song is all about me dreaming big. It’s also about my vision of how the world will interact with me and my music. Literally, it’s about pushing through my blueprint and perspectives, no matter how hard it is,” Alex further explained.
“Go Crazy” is now available on Spotify and other digital channels.
