THE Department of Education (DepEd) on Tuesday announced that the 7,074 delegates of National School Press Conference (NSPC) & National Festival of Talents (NFOT) have all cleared their precautionary quarantine without any symptom of COVID-19 disease.
“As you know there was only one delegate, the supervisor from Mandaluyong, that was reported to have been hospitalized and tested positive for COVID-19,” said DepEd Undersecretary and chief of staff Nepomuceno Malaluan.
Malaluan said that the DepEd official is now recovering but has yet to be discharged from the hospital.
However, Malaluan said that while it has been long past the NFOT/NSPC completion date for purposes of precautionary quarantine, they continuously monitor “a very small number of delegates”.
He said these delagates were still classified as PUIs who are either under observation, treatment or awaiting medical clearance.
“…But we are not informed whether any test have been conducted,” he added.
“These cases, while we continue to monitor them, may not anymore be directly related to the NFOT and NSPC precaution, but because of other possible exposure,” the DepEd official concluded.
“On the whole, it is reasonable to say that we have, overall, cleared the NSPC/NFOT critical monitoring period, and the heightened precautionary measures we have taken during the event, their travel and after arrival to their homes have yielded the outcomes we wanted to achieve.”
