AS of Friday (April 3), at least 21 overseas Filipino workers (OFW) have died from Covid-19, the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) said.
In all, a total of 466 cases have been recorded among the OFWs, of whom 316 are undergoing treatment, while 129 have recovered.
All of these OFWs, according to DFA, were based in 32 countries in Asia and Pacific, Europe and the Americas.
The said regions also reported 8 new recoveries among Filipinos, but unfortunately, seven new deaths were also recorded from the Americas, Europe and the Middle East.
The DFA said discrepancies in figures reported in some regions are being addressed to ensure close monitoring of the status of Filipino nationals abroad.
The DFA said it remains committed to ensuring our people’s welfare and stands ready to provide assistance as needed.
Meanwhile, a total of 248 seafarers were flown in from Miami on Friday, all crewmembers of MSC Divina.
MSC Cruises, the manning agency, chartered the flight that brought the third batch of repatriates from the non-Covid-19 infected ship home.
The Bureau of Quarantine performed the mandatory medical inspection before the seafarers were allowed to disembark and head to a quarantine facility.
The Philippine National Police, the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration and the DFA were at the premier airport to provide assistance to the repatriates.
