BREAKING his silence amid a frenzy of social media posts late Wednesday saying he is in critical condition after being infected with Covid-19, former senator Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. released a photo of him in his bedroom, saying he was recovering at home, while still awaiting his test results.
“I am deeply touched and overwhelmed by your concern over my condition. Don’t worry, I am doing ok and contrary to popular belief, I am home on self-quarantine,” said Marcos, belying speculation he was “intubated” after falling ill since he returned from Spain, now one of the hottest infection zones in Europe. .
His statement read: “As my sister (Sen. Imee) said, a few days ago I was feeling a little under the weather and as a result went to get checked. We are still waiting for the results.
“Fortunately, I feel much better and am getting stronger by the day. I have no doubt in my mind that this is partly due to the excellent work of the nurses and doctors who helped me during this time.
“I am inspired and moved by the show of courage and commitment of our health workers. You are our true heroes in these most trying times. Thank you!!”He then made an appeal to the public: “I am hoping and praying for everyone’s safety and good health. Please don’t let the sacrifices of health workers and other frontliners go to waste. Let us all stay home.”
