Motorcycle hailing app Angkas recently launched their food delivery service, Angkas Food on Monday, March 23. While the company admitted on their various social media platforms that “food isn’t their expertise”, they hope that this endeavor will provide income to their bikers during the Luzon wide community quarantine.
“This isn’t for us. Para ito sa mga bikers at para sa inyo,” Angkas posted on its social media pages.
The post also included the order placement and procedure for Angkas food, including a link of the list of partner restaurants posted at angkas.com/restaurants. To order, one has to call the partner restaurant and place their order and provide their contact details. Payment can be done cash on demand although cashless is recommended.
Social distancing and no-touch interaction will be strictly observed once the customer who placed the order meets the biker. The ordered items will be placed either on the seat of the motorcycle or the customer’s doorstep while the biker maintains a safe distance until the item/s are picked up.
In a later post, Angkas has expressed its appreciation to the “overwhelming response” to their “new food venture,: But as much as they’re working on improving the delivery of this service, Angkas is also quick to clarify that what they’re offering is only temporary and will remain in effect “mostly for the duration of the COVID-19 quarantine.”
“Helping consumers beat the traffic has always really been our forte, and venturing into the chaos that is food deliveries is not future plans outside of this pandemic,” Angkas added.
