Singing along during concerts is a magical experience for both the artists and the fans. For a moment, the world melts away and the only thing that matters is your shared passion for the same chords. In order to give back to their fans for these wonderful experiences through the years, 6cyclemind partnered with Sony Music for their latest project entitled, Sige I-Cover Mo Lang Project.
The project encouraged fans to submit covers of their favorite songs of the band, allowing them to interpret the songs however they wanted. As such, there was no need for guidelines.
“We gave them the freedom to interpret the song of their choice. While screening the entries, we followed our gut feel and looked for the cover that will move us. There were many entries that we really liked. It was difficult for the band to eliminate the other submissions because we had to limit it to just 3.” said lead guitarist Herbert Hernandez.
“Throughout our career, we have been touring different parts of the country. We are lucky to witness how our audience, even from far flung areas, sing our songs with us. This is indeed a very magical feeling. Online, we can also view our fans cover our songs. This makes us feel that, somehow, through our music, we have touched their lives. This is the reason why we have decided to do this project.” added vocalist Tutti Caringal.
Amongst the thousands of entries submitted, one of the big stand outs was Bianca’s rendition of “Biglaan.” A stripped-down, softer take on the song, Bianca describes her style to be more “melancholic” and downcast.
“Whenever I want to cover songs, I usually just search for the chords and let myself feel the music,” remarked the 16-year old singer-songwriter.
She also expressed her thanks to the project, stating that it “was such a great platform to thank the band’s fans and also give opportunities to artists.”
The cover was later produced by the band and recorded at Backdoor Recording Studio. “Biglaan” is now available on all music streaming sites everywhere.
