OVERSEAS-BOUND Filipino workers, balikbayans or vacationing Filipinos as well as foreigners are now allowed to fly out of Luzon throughout the monthlong enhanced community quarantine (ECQ) in Luzon.
Cabinet Secretary Karlo B. Nograles said the Inter-Agency Task Force (IATF) for the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases opted to remove the 72-hour deadline for the concerned travelers to relieve them of additional “pressure.”
To be exempted from the prevailing home-confinement rule in Luzon, he said, they must submit proof of international travel itinerary with departure schedule 24 hours from leaving their residences.
They will be allowed to
be accompanied by only one person when traveling to any
international airport in Luzon.
Specifically for Filipino travelers, Nograles said they will not be allowed to go to any country, where there is a travel restriction.
He said the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (Owwa) may also provide transportation for overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) who will be heading to the airport.
Labor Secretary Silvestre H. Bello III said OFWs who still need to process travel documents related to their work during the ECQ, may seek the assistance of the Philippine Overseas Employment Administration (POEA) and the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) through its 1349 hotline.
The government implemented the ECQ in Luzon in its attempts to stop the spread of the novel coronavirus disease (Covid-19), which has already infected 198 people in the country.
