Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP) Governor Benjamin Diokno tested negative for the coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19).
In a statement on Wednesday evening, the Central Bank announced that Diokno has finished his self-quarantine after finding out the result.
The BSP governor will be attending the Monetary Board policy meeting as scheduled on Thursday.
“The continued health of members of the Monetary Board is paramount to the stability of the financial system amidst this pandemic,” the BSP said, with its chief urging the members of the financial system to “cooperate with the national government’s effort to delay the spread of Covid-19.”
“Rest assured that the BSP continues to foster price stability, financial stability, and an efficient payments system to promote the economic well-being of Filipinos,” the Central Bank added.
Diokno, along with other Cabinet officials, said that he went on self-quarantine as safety measure after being possibly exposed to a virus-infected person.
