Chris Panzer, like those German World War II tanks of yore, rolled over Filipino-Australian Robbie Eagles, to defend his Philippine Wrestling Revolution championship belt at PWR Love at First Fight last Sunday at the Power Mac Center.
A limp here, a split lip there, and a body red and obviously sore from the punishment he took from Eagles wasn’t enough to silence his awesomeness from sounding off.
His long black sweaty mane over his PWR title belt, Panzer, a dead ringer for a young Eddie Vedder of American rock band Pearl Jam—during his younger days of course—posed for photos post-fight. Furthermore, he channeled Muhammad Ali. “I took a licking, but I am still ticking and my heart’s still beating,” he deadpanned.
Panzer is the only three-time PWR champion; a fact he made known as one fan confronted him after Eagles’ loss. “You stole the win from Eagles,” the fan exclaimed.
In a cool and calculating manner, Panzer rebutted the fan, “The Astros stole the trophy [in reference to the Houston Astros’ ongoing controversy about sign stealing their way to the World Series]. Me? I outsmarted him [Eagles]. There is a difference.”
The champ took affront to any suggestions that his being a part of Mr. Sy’s Group of Talents is a collection of villains. “People are just jealous of our success. There’ll always be haters, man. Besides, people are envious of the sexiest devil in the PWR.”
He followed that up with a guffaw of a man who knows only glory inside the ring.
All three of MSG’s wrestlers successfully retained their belts. Prior to the main event of Eagles versus Panzer, the tag team of Sandata and Main Maxx defeated the KakaiBros in a street fight. While the duo did not need any interference or a well-timed assist from Mr. Sy, their victory didn’t sit well with the fans who packed the venue.
Just then, another fan called out MSG’s impresario…“Mr. Sy!”
“Yes?” answered back the bespectacled man with the vision and a plan.
“I hate you!”
“Thank you,” offered Mr. Sy who then walked off as if nothing had happened.
“You see?” Panzer pointed out to Mr. Sy’s deftness (or sleight of hand depending on where you stand with regards to MSG). “That is class. Pure class in the face of haters and the lack of respect.”
The fans or detractors (again depending on what side of MSG’s fence you stand on) were left dumbfounded. And Panzer…went on to pose for more selfies.
And the MSG and Panzer blitzkrieg rolls on.
