AS part of the agency’s goal toward information-technology integration, the Department of Education is set to conduct the nationwide synchronized supreme student government (SSG) and supreme pupil government (SPG) elections today, Friday, February 14, 2020.
Education Undersecretary Alain Del B. Pascua said that DepEd will also conduct a pilot implementation of the Automated Election System to streamline the voting, and canvassing, process of SSG and SPG.
In a memorandum issued by Pascua, the activity spans the month of February with the campaign period, including presidential election forum, campus-wide presidential and vice presidential debates set on February 12 and 13, with the election day and proclamation on February 14.
“We are very excited for this year’s SSG and SPG elections as we are piloting our Automated Election System this year, and hopefully institutionalize it by next year,” Pascua said.
He added that a lot of activities are being prepared for the student and pupil officials, and their respective advisers, in line with the efforts of the department to further empower its learners and teacher-advisers for the benefit of their respective schools.
