In Japan, fashion always starts in the shoes. The footwear is a very important component of a fashionable style. That is why when designer Tomoyo Hashimoto did an experiment seven years ago to put shoes as a design for a bag, the concept turned out to be an instant hit. mis zapatos (read as ‘mis sapato’) was born.
The Japanese brand of fun, motif bags has finally arrived in the Philippines. Japanese lifestyle retailer @Tokyo now carries the mis zapatos bags in all its four local outlets (Uptown Mall, Estancia at Capitol Commons, Century City Mall, and SM City Olongapo Central).
“mis zapatos thrives in the unique concept of putting distinct designs of embroidered shoes into different styles, shapes, and sizes of bags,” said mis zapatos President Naoya Minai during the grand launch of the brand in the country. “This is what makes us different from all other designer bags.”
Minai comes from a family that has been making different kinds of bags for over 32 years now. Among his siblings, it was only him who pursued a venture that is also related to bags. That is why he is passionate about his items.
So far, the mis zapatos brand has about 200 to 300 different bag designs coming in various sizes—small sling bags for ladies on-the-go, big tote bags for shopaholics, and two-way bags for women who come to school or work. Before the Philippine launch, the brand has already been turning heads in Taiwan and Singapore. It also has distributors in the United States, Germany, Switzerland, and Hong Kong.
“Our company is successful in making unique and radical new designs, deviating from the simple designs that other bag makers are creating. We will keep on working hard to be able to introduce new mis zapatos items and designs that we hope would be loved by everybody in this beautiful country, the Philippines,” Minai said. He also disclosed the possibility of soon coming up with Philippine edition bags.
mis zapatos bags come in different colors and shoe styles—sneakers, ribbon pumps, ankle strap heels, and getas, among others. There are bag designs that also feature shoes paired with embroidered bottom garments like skirts and pants.
