SUPER app Grab has expanded its food-delivery service to Iloilo in support of the priority tourism area’s bid to be transformed as a “fully digital city.”
With the introduction of GrabFood in Iloilo, which is now the 37th city of GrabFood in the Philippines, Grab users—both locals and tourists—now have better access to food, GrabFood Head Edward Joseph de la Vega said.
“As we expand GrabFood’s operations in the Philippines, we recognize that our job doesn’t end after delivering a meal to our consumers. We are inspired by our deeper goal of delivering positive impact into the lives of our partners and the people who take pride in the development of their city,” he said.
De la Vega noted that Grab has added GrabFood to its services in Iloilo as part of its initiative to help Iloilo grow as a tourism and digital hub, as GrabFood will provide economic opportunities for local businesses and generate jobs for motorcycle owners.
Aside from providing discounts for its maiden launch, Grab is also participating in the celebration of the Dinagyang Festival this month. It will be offering 50 of Iloilo’s best restaurants in a centralized location, and will be deploying GrabWheels, electronic scooters, and will be hosting local talents during the festival.
“Grab is a proud partner of the local government of Iloilo. We will always look for ways to offer a fun and memorable Dinagyang Festival experience through our everyday services,” de la Vega said.
Citing market research by Kantar in the second quarter of 2019, the company said in a statement that GrabFood is the most often used food-delivery platform in the Philippines with 78 percent of users voting for GrabFood over other app-based food-delivery brands.
At present, the company said GrabFood has the widest selection of restaurant partners in the Philippines. It is the only accredited end-to-end food-delivery partner of major quick service restaurants like JFC Group, KFC, McDonald’s, BonChon and Max’s Group Inc.
