Lazada reveals strong numbers from the 12.12 Grand Year End Sale, with millions of items sold over the three-day sale and thousands of contributions made for the LazadaForGood’s 11 advocacy partners.
Filipinos looked to their calendars with anticipation for the longest holiday shopping festival of the season and the 12 million product offerings available on the platform at discounted prices. On the first day of the sale, shoppers immediately added their wishlists to cart and bought 6.6 Million items on the app.
Over the next two days, shoppers would be checking their phones at least six times a day to secure the most enticing deals. By the time the Grand Year End Sale closed on December 14, shoppers logged in a total of 287 Million minutes (that’s equivalent to playing Mariah Carey’s holiday hit “All I Want for Christmas is You” 71 million times). Lazada also reports that the platform has inducted more than 12,000 sellers into the Millionaire Sellers Club in 2019.
“There is a growing space for eCommerce in the hearts of Filipinos. As we’ve
seen in 11.11 and then again during 12.12, our market is embracing the online
shopping experience,” said Ray Alimurung, Lazada Philippines’ Chief Executive
Officer. “We are optimistic on how their confidence in eCommerce will translate
into opportunities for the digital economy in 2020.”
The Filipino Wishlist Items
Determined to grant wishlists this year, shoppers filled their carts to the brim with items for gifting and personal rewards. According to Lazada, among the most popular items for 12.12 are shoes, toys, mobile phones, and beauty products. The biggest shopping haul this year broke records at P2.6 million.
Based on categories, the biggest winners of the three-day sale are Mobile, Mother and Baby, Fashion, and General Merchandise.
Digital Giving this 12.12
This year’s 12.12 also saw the debut of the Digital Giving page, an initiative under LazadaForGood which featured Lazada’s 11 advocacy partners. A total of 6,700 donations were made through the platform and the number is expected to rise as the page stays live throughout the year. Views for the #LazadaForGood video has also reached 1.1M, as of date, less than two weeks after it was published on the Lazada Philippines’ Facebook page.
“It is a special 12.12 for us because Filipinos added heart to cart this year. Thousands have generously contributed to our partner organizations, and we look forward to sustaining this effort, making their noble gestures discoverable and expanding platforms for our kababayans to support advocacies through Lazada,” said Neil Trinidad, Chief Marketing Officer.
