Dennis Orcollo outdueled Singapore’s Aloysius Yap, 9-7, to advance in the gold medal match of the 10-ball pool men’s singles competition of the 30th Southeast Asian Games on Sunday at the Manila Hotel Tent.
With the game rack on the line, Orcollo reclaimed the shot continuation after a well-paced one-ball that forced Aloysious to give the Filipino an open a shot opportunity, which he capitalized on to end the game, 9-7.
Orcollo had an early two rack lead before the Singaporean completed a 3-0 run to take over the game, 2-3.
Orcollo completed another two racks in the following sets to take the lead, 4-3, but Aloysius also came up with three straight wins of his own.
Orcollo will face Do The Kien, who won against Indonesia’s Ismael Kadir, in the gold medal match on Monday, 4 p.m.
