A party-list lawmaker has called on the Department of Health to open a competitive bidding procedure for P4.9-billion pneumococcal conjugal vaccines.
Assistant Majority Leader Niña Taduran of ACT-CIS issued the statement after the DOH decided to postpone the auction for pneumococcal conjugal vaccines after only one bidder showed up for the bidding.
“An open competitive bidding procedure will give better options for the government in procuring the said vaccines,” she said.
“We don’t want to have another rushed procurement of vaccines which could be a source of corruption. It is also vital to study the technical aspects of the procurement before proceeding with the purchase,” added Taduran.
