Early this year, the THAIFEX-World of Food Asia 2019 solidified its position as the premier food and beverage (F&B) trade show in the region.
Focusing on business and commerce, the 16th edition of the much-anticipated event was able to attract more than 67,000 visitors from 134 countries and 2,745 exhibitors from 42 countries.
These exhibitors that included 28 promising start-ups were able to generate sales that amounted to more than US$360 million. The top five ranked products were Beverages, Fruits and Vegetables, Rice, Food Technology and Food Service Businesses.
Highlights of the event included samplers of future food offerings, plant-based meats and drone-based food delivery. There was also an insect-based protein powder and an edible coating solution that prolongs the shelf life of fruit, smart packaging for traceability and authentication.
In promoting next year’s event that will take place from May 26 to 30, 2020 at the Impact Muang Thong Thani in Bangkok, Thailand, Natiya Suchinda, the Director of Office of Agricultural and Industrial Trade Promotion, Department of International Trade Promotion, Ministry of Commerce in Thailand said that the trade show will be rebranded as Thaifex-Anuga Asia.
During Thaifex-Anuga Asia’s recent roadshow at Dusit Thani in Makati, Suchinda announced that more exciting activities involving nine zones are in store for next year’s visitors.
These activities include the “Street Food to the World” zone; the “New Protein Sources (Insect/Plant)” zone; the “Free-form Products” zone; the “The Best of Functional Food” zone; the “Excellence Food Ingredients and the Hidden Story of Fish Sauce / Sriracha Sauce / Coconut Cream & Milk” zone; the “Asia’s Herb to the World” zone.; the “Asia’s Best Franchises” zone; the “New Faces: The Provincial Oriented” zone; the “The Standard of Organics”, “Halal to The World”, 60+ and Mom & Kids’s Products zones.
