SAN Sebastian College aims for a share of the second spot when it battles University of Perpetual Help in the National Collegiate Athletic Association Season 95 seniors basketball tournament on Tuesday at the Filoil Flying V Centre in San Juan City.
The Golden Stags, who at 7-3 won-lost trail the San Beda Red Lions (11-0) and Lyceum of the Philippines University Pirates (8-3), seek their eighth win for a tie for the No.2 spot when they face the Altas (3-7) at 12.
College of Saint Benilde (6-4) and Mapua (4-6) clash at 2 p.m. while Jose Rizal University (4-7) takes on Arellano University (2-9) at 4 p.m. One of the hottest teams in the tournament, San Sebastian bagged its fifth consecutive victory after beating Saint Benilde, 83-67, last Thursday.
Allyn Bulanadi had a career-high of 32 points for the Stags, who used a lethal second half blitz against the skidding Blazers.
Coach Egay Macaraya hopes that his team continues its impressive streak and move closer to the Final Four.
“Our first goal is to make it to the Final Four. I hope everybody is healthy so that we could play with the same intensity in our defense and offense,” Macaraya said. “We want to sustain this run in our remaining games.” Bulanadi is expected to be the main man for San Sebastian, along with RK Ilagan, Alvin Capobres and JM Calma.
Perpetual Help, meanwhile, is on a two-game losing streak following its recent 74-89 setback to Lyceum.
The troika of Edgar Charcos, Tonton Peralta and Ben Adamos is sure to provide firepower for the Altas’ push for a spot in the semifinals.
