HE may well be of drinking age already but Inigo Pascual has a daunting task that will haunt him for the rest of his life: being the son of superstar Piolo Pascual.
He turns 22 this week and has made some achievements already, but Inigo, for all his charm and talent, will always have the Papa P stamp as long as he lives.
Which he thinks is a good thing as he acknowledges it was his ticket to enter show business without even entering a reality contest or releasing a scandalous video on the Internet. Now, being relevant in this fickle business is what is in Inigo’s mind and based on his latest endeavors, he might as well achieve it.
Case in point: he recently dropped a single, titled “Adios,” an upbeat track that he recorded with Singaporean hip-hop/R&B artist Akasha.
The collaboration actually follows the wunderkind’s international tours and other collaborations with foreign artists (this year he teamed up with Australian YouTube superstar Wengie for the song “Mr. Nice Guy”).
Of these collaborations, Inigo said he has learned a lot. “It’s not about limiting yourself to a certain sound, but expanding and really growing as an artist and allowing yourself to do different things outside of your comfort zone.”
Back to his latest single “Adios,” produced by Star Records: the song may be upbeat but it is actually a breakup song that highlights the turning point and ensuing conclusion of a toxic relationship. On that point, I wanted to ask him if this song was for anyone in particular in his life but thank God I read the press kit stating that he didn’t actually write the song, and that “Adios” was actually a single by another Singaporean artist (Zadon) that was written in Mandarin and localized by Star Records executive Jonathan Manalo. The record exec adapted the lyrics and added a new part, plus he invited Akasha to collaborate.
What I also read in the press kit is that if you want to listen to the song, it is available on Spotify, Apple Music and other digital stores worldwide. A corresponding music video also airs on Myx but if you want to watch it now, you can go to Star Music’s YouTube channel.

BY now, invites to the ABS-CBN ball have been rolled out but if you’re Team Bahay like me, you can just tune in on Metro Channel or stream it via Metro.Style on September 14 as they have the exclusive coverage of the event. Robi Domingo and Karylle are the preshow hosts, while Gretchen Ho, Raymond Gutierrez, Gretchen Fullido, Sarah Meier, Bianca Gonzalez and Boy Abunda are the Red Carpet special emcees.
The 2019 ABS-CBN Ball is held for the benefit of Bantay Bata 163’s Bantay Edukasyon Program.
The event will also honor the late Gina Lopez, the founder of Bantay Bata and other programs under the ABS-CBN Foundation’s Sagip Kapamilya and Bantay Kalikasan.
The one-hour Metro preshow will delve into the behind-the-scenes and details of the ball that include a retrospective of ABS-CBN’s 65 years, a primer on the ball’s advocacy, a tribute to Gina Lopez, and a glance at the food and entertainment of the event.
Special guests from the fashion industry will also join the show to give red carpet predictions and chat about the dress code—modern Filipiniana, which was chosen to pay homage to local artistry, creativity and ingenuity.
Metro’s Live at the Red Carpet coverage will be everyone’s window to the hottest and latest happenings before the ball, with exclusives on who and what the celebrities are wearing, and, most important for the chismosas like me, who is arriving with whom at the event.
