Social Security System also stages its annual recognition of top partners through the Balikat ng Bayan (BnB) Awards. The award name represents the character of SSS and its partners as a pair of helping arms or shoulders to lean on in times of need. It acknowledges the value of SSS’s partnerships with other sectors in pursuit of its mandate to provide universal, equitable and viable social security protection. Filipino sculptor Dr. Antonino Raymundo designed the BnB award.
Since 1995, BnB honors employers, organizations, individuals that significantly contributed to the pursuit of the SSS’s mandate. Awardees are recognized for their compliance to the provisions of the SS Law in terms of coverage, collection and giving out benefits, accuracy and timeliness of their submission of reports to SSS, as well as support of and participation in SSS programs.
Employer winners are classified under two major categories: Large Account Employers with a minimum of 500 employees, and Small-Medium account employers with less than 500 employees. SSS branches nationwide evaluate and nominate deserving employers within their areas of jurisdiction.
SSS partner banks are also honored in the BnB. Banks are classified as either thrift, rural or commercial banks. A top collecting bank for SSS contributions or top paying bank for SSS benefits are recognized. An award for best participating financial institution is also given for banks successfully giving out SSS business or housing loans.
