Airport immigration agents arrested a suspected pedophile from New Zealand wanted by authorities in his homeland where he was twice convicted of sexually abusing children.
Acting Immigration Intelligence Division chief Fortunato “Jun” Manahan Jr., in his report to Commissioner Jaime Morente, identified the fugitive as Alan James Linton, who was arrested last August 23 in his residence at Sugarland Subdivision in Valencia City, Bukidnon.
Armed with a mission order from Morente, the arresting agents apprehended Linton after the New Zealand police informed the bureau about the fugitive’s presence in the country and that he had two previous convictions on charges of child sexual exploitation.
Manahan said that New Zealand authorities described Linton as potential risk to Filipino children, either through physical contact or via Internet due to his record as a pedophile.
Linton is now detained at the Bureau of Immigration (BI) detention facility in Bicutan pending issuance of a deportation order against him by the bureau’s Board of Commissioners.
Meanwhile in Samar, immigration agents arrested two Chinese nationals who were caught selling retail goods without work permit and visa. They were arrested also last August 28 in Catbalogan City, and identified as Wu Zhijie, 26 years old, and Wu Jiajiang, 51 years old.
Manahan disclosed that Morente issued a mission order for the duo’s arrest after the bureau received complaints from small Filipino traders in Catbalogan alleging that the said aliens were robbing them of their business opportunities. It was learned that the duo failed to present any travel or immigration documents when confronted by the arresting agents.
The duo were brought to Manila and now detained at the BI detention facility in Bicutan for initiation of deportation proceedings.
