CHEMICAL manufacturer D and L Industries Inc. (DNL) was one of the companies in the region honored by New York-based Institutional Investor magazine in its 2019 All-Asia Executive Team survey.
DNL was ranked among the top in a list of over 1,600 Asian companies nominated for outstanding corporate leadership and investor relations.The company’s President and CEO Alvin Lao was named Best CEO in the Philippines and was ranked second in the Asean region.
For the Philippines category, Lao bested Universal Robina Corp.’s (URC) Irwin Lee, who came in at second, and Ayala Land Inc.’s Bernard Vincent Dy, at third.
The company’s investor relations program was also recognized as the best in the country, while Investor Relations Officer Crissa Bondad placed third in the Best Investor Relations Professional in the Philippines category. URC bagged the top spot for the said category, followed by AyalaLand.
On the other hand, the company’s environmental, social and governance (ESG) initiatives were also recognized by the survey, placing the company at second in the Philippines.

This year’s survey results reflect the opinions of nearly 2,500 investment professionals at 892 financial services firms, including buy-side analysts, money managers and sell-side researchers at securities firms and financial institutions that cover Asia.
Companies were ranked based on various aspects of corporate leadership and investor relations. These include having accessible senior executives, providing timely and appropriate financial disclosure, having a well-informed and empowered IR team, responding quickly and thoroughly to investor requests, providing a transparent corporate governance and ESG/SRI (socially responsible investing) reporting, and having the ability to execute key corporate strategies. These awards earned D and L Industries a spot in the list of Asean’s Honored Companies; a ranking which only included six companies in the region. DNL was the only Philippine company to make it to the list and was ranked fourth.
