MY apologies to the brilliant Ruth Sheehan for this week’s column.
Gerald Anderson: You know.
We know you know.
Whatever happened between you and Bea Alonzo, you know the truth. She has come forward through a brief statement about you ghosting her. In the interview, you can still see her hurting. Slightly confused, too. But definitely hurt.
You must come out to explain to her what happened.
Do not be afraid of retribution. Do not be persuaded that somehow, you didn’t do anything wrong.
If what Bea say is true—that there was no actual breakup, and if what others say is true (that you cheated on her)—then it’s not good.
I can see your friends patting you on the back, saying how Pinoy boys (emphasis on boys) see you now as their “Lodi,” managing to put in your list of exes a number of the most beautiful and most popular women in showbiz. They would reassure you that you are not what others and your exes say about you, and that you’re actually a nice guy, just wanting to live life freely and love anyone you want.
But the truth is, there is a woman hurting. And you’ve hurt a lot of women. It may be an “occupational hazard” to be chased by girls, with you being a handsome, virile, affluent boy who happens to be one of the most famous people in this country. But this doesn’t give you any excuse.
You may think that you’re just an actor, and that you don’t owe the public any explanation. But the moment you signed your name in the application form to audition for Pinoy Big Brother, you knew that once accepted, you would kiss your private life goodbye. Heck, it wouldn’t even surprise me that besides winning the whole boatload of prizes offered then, one reason you joined was to become famous.
And now you are. Well, you were actually. Because now, you’re infamous to a lot of women who can relate to Bea Alonzo.

JAYA has finally launched her latest album, titled Queen of Soul, her much-awaited studio work after seven years, and her first under Star Music, featuring eight fresh, soulful tracks.
“We first released a few singles through digital platforms and I am happy with the positive reception it’s been receiving for the songs ‘Hanggang Dito na Lang,’ ‘Tanggap Ko Na,’ ‘Kasalanan Ko Ba,’ ‘Won’t Cry’ featuring Gloc-9, “You’re a Liar,’ ‘Tayo Pala Talaga’ and ‘Miracle Child,’” the singer said of her new album, coproduced by Cornerstone Music.
The Queen of Soul grand launch was held at the Ponte de Amore Bridge in Venice Grand Canal Mall at McKinley Hill, where she serenaded the crowd against a romantic Italian backdrop.
Lucky fans who downloaded her digital album were also treated to a Meet and Greet session. Star Music artist JMKO opened the show which was hosted by MOR DJ Eva Ronda.
Jaya’s newest album followed the success of her concert last April at Resorts World Manila held in celebration of her 3oth year in the music industry.
“I am only reinventing for the newer audience but I still cater to the crowd who loved me since Day One. I want the album to speak for itself, music they can relate to and love through the years to come,” Jaya shared enthusiastically.
Jaya is the first Pinoy recording artist who made it to the Billboard charts. Recently, her YouTube collaboration “SOULJA” with Filipino R&B artists Jason Dy and JayR reached a million views.
Don’t miss her latest music on the Queen of Soul album, now out in digital stores.
