The regional wage board said the possible minimum-wage hike in Eastern Visayas this year is still uncertain.
Citing its initial public consultations, Regional Tripartite Wages and Productivity Board (RTWPB) in Region 8 said the wage hike may still need additional inputs before deciding if it will grant additional pay hike there.
“We cannot tell yet as of now, but maybe, depending on the results of the consultations, our workers here in Eastern Visayas may get wage increase this year,” RTWPB-Region 8 Chairman Yahya A. Centi said in a news statement.
RTWPB-Region 8 has already conducted five public consultations on the issue.
The first four public consultations was held
in Ormoc City, Maasin City, Naval, Biliran, and Calbayog City,
and Catarman earlier
this year.
The latest consultation was conducted on Tuesday at Northern Samar. The last is scheduled to be held in Borongan City on July 5.
The last wage order in Eastern Visayas took effect on June 25, raising minimum-wage rates there from P245 to P285, to P275 to P305.
