DAVAO CITY—The city of Panabo, home to one of the earliest banana plantations in the country, has approved six drainage projects and two additional undertakings that include the installation of flood sensors worth P22.3 million in a bid to boost the city’s resiliency against recurrent flooding of its barangays.
The projects were included and approved this month for funding in the Annual Investment Plan (AIP) for 2020 by the City Development Council. The council is composed of barangay captains, heads of nongovernment and other private organizations and association.
The drainage projects fall under the Disaster Risk Reduction Management Program-Disaster Prevention and Mitigation.
