ASIA Pacific College (APC), a collaboration between IBM Philippines and SM Foundation, recently announced its partnership with major robotics processing automation (RPA) company UiPath under the company’s Academic Alliance program in the Asean region.
Maria Teresita Medado, APC president, said the partnership with UiPath Academic Alliance fits well with the school’s objective of providing skilled manpower in business, IT and communications industries that are armed with solutions-development competencies necessary for business growth.
“We are very proud to be pioneering the UiPath Academic Alliance in the Philippines and equipping Filipino employees with the skills needed to flourish,” she said in a press statement.
UiPath Senior Vice President for Learning Tom Clancy said it is quite important for Asean to prepare its people for the Fourth Industrial Revolution.
“We need to prepare and train our youth for a more automated future, one where the ability to work alongside robots will be as important as the skills they bring to bear,” he said.
“That is why UiPath is committed to training more than 1 million students globally in the next three years as we understand that education and reskilling are vital if we are to thrive in a digital future,” Clancy added.
Other schools that joined the program in Asean are Singapore’s Nanyang Polytechnic, Ngee Ann Polytechnic, Republic Polytechnic, Institute of Technical Education, ITE College West, and King Mongkut’s University of Technology Ladkrabang (KMITL) in Thailand. UiPath will also partner with NTUC LearningHub, the leading provider of continuous education and training in Singapore, serving over 180,000 training places per year.
Under the program, Clancy said UiPath and educational institutions work together to equip students with critical automation skills, teach them how to leverage RPA in the workplace and prepare them to work alongside software robots. He added UiPath aims to train over 50,000 students and professionals in Asean over the next three years for the automated work force of the future.
He said the UiPath RPA courses will be integrated into existing curriculum offered by higher learning institutions in Asean that aims to institutionalize RPA within academia and prepare students and educators with in-demand automation skills. The courses will be developed by UiPath Academic Alliance instructors who will train and qualify educators who, once certified, will be able to teach students and other educators.
UiPath is going to be the content provider to teach students with RPA, the application of automation to business processes, and equip technical students with RPA Developer skills. Moreover, UiPath shall provide the curriculum, course content, UiPath software platform, learning materials, regular educator training and tools.
