TOP music-streaming service Spotify recently launched a new playlist, “The Philippines Discovers” which is based on the listening trends of music fans across the country.
Tracks featured in this playlist reflect the most discovered artists of the Philippines. ALLMO$T, This Band and JM De Guzman are just a few of the fresh names in local music that young people are discovering.
Spotify powers an average of 11 billion artist discoveries each month. Its listeners are beyond curious and vastly open to expanding their taste in music and on Spotify, fans can discover their next favorite in a world full of new artists, songs and genres to explore—just ask any 18- to 24-year-old user. It recently uncovered that listeners in this age group have a unique and somewhat unexpected taste for discovery.

In Asia, Gen Z fans are bopping away to the hottest K-Pop music and some of its latest rookie bands Itzy and Spotify’s Early Noise 2019 feature, TOMORROW X TOGETHER, can be found within the most discovered artist list across Singapore, Malaysia, the Philippines, Indonesia, Taiwan, Hong Kong and Thailand.
In the Philippines, more than 85 percent of artists being discovered on Spotify in this list are OPM artists, particularly local favorites such as ALLMO$T, This Band, I Belong to the Zoo and Ben&Ben. JM De Guzman and Armi Millare also make the Top 10, with their respective songs famously featured from the hit 2019 film Alone/Together.
In fact, a lot of classic bands from the late ‘90s, such as Eraserheads and Parokya Ni Edgar to the early 2000s such as Silent Sanctuary, Hale and Callalily, are still being discovered on Spotify.

Spotify’s most discovered artist list also supports its latest global brand campaign and in the Philippines, as it leans into the concept of “What’s Next.” The eccentric creatives tailored just for Pinoy music fans underscores that Spotify is the best way to discover your next favourite sound anywhere and anytime, for free. Infused into the campaign video is also “Pauwi Nako” by PDL, a song we know our youth enjoy.
