As the canvassing of senatorial candidates nears its end, reelectionist Senator Cynthia Villar remains on top of the senatorial race in the latest partial and official count of the National Board of Canvassers (NBOC).
The Commission on Election (Comelec) en banc sitting as NBOC was able to register Villar with the most votes with 19,383,224 votes.
Reelectionist senator Grace Poe remained in the second place with 1,7043,889 votes, while former Special Assistant to the President Christopher “Bong” Go retained the third place with 15.685,847 votes.
Another reelectionist senator, Pilar “Pia” Cayetano and Ronald “Bato” dela Rosa came in fourth and fifth place with 15,330,363 votes and 14,529,585 votes, respectively.
In sixth place is reelectionist senator Juan “Sonny” Angara with 14,023,811 votes, while reelectionist Lito Lapid was in seventh place with 12,628,054 votes.
Completing the last five members of the so-called Magic 12 of the senate were former Ilocos governor Maria “Imee” Marcos with 12,618,428 votes; former Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) secretary Francis Tolentino with 11,975,435 votes; reelectionist senator Aquilino “Koko” Pimentel with 11,283,357 votes; reelectionist senator Nancy Binay with 11,041,386 votes; and reelectionist senator Paolo “Bam” Aquino with 11,001,047 with votes.
Coming close in the 13th place was reelectionist Ramon “Bong” Revilla with 10,984,412 votes.
The results were based from the 129 COCs, which canvassed by the NBOC as of 9:47 pm of May 16.
NBOC will be canvassing a total of 167 COC for the 2019 polls. Of these COCs, 130 are from the automated local and overseas absentee voting. Thirty-five of the COCs are from manual overseas absentee voting.
It will be resuming the canvassing on Friday 10 am.
