ZAMORA-LED Tranzen Group Inc. (TGI), a leading diversified conglomerate in the country, has struck a partnership deal with a Chinese firm to roll out Wi-fi Internet, digital television and satellite network services in the Philippines.
Chaired by Philippine Telegraph & Telephone Corp. (PT&T) bigwig Salvador B. Zamora II, TGI partnered with CITIC Networks Co. Ltd. for the construction of digital infrastructure in “various capital cities and towns throughout the Philippines.”
Under the deal, the companies will construct Wi-fi network utilizing PT&T’s fiber network to provide emergency and information services, digital TV and satellite network services, and digital and Internet services for smart cities.
“The synergy between Tranzen and PT&T aims to change the game of the digital infrastructure in the Philippines,” Zamora said. “PT&T’s 100-percent Fiber Internet network and host of IT services will complement the advanced infrastructure designs of Tranzen.”
He noted that CITIC is known in China as a leading system integration and IT services. It also develops application software.
“PT&T is fully on board with the government’s initiative to modernize the country’s ICT landscape, and we are participating in the Public Wi-fi program,” PT&T President James Velasquez said. He added the company also plans to develop capabilities in smart cities and emergency response through the partnership.
