Geothermal leader Energy Development Corporation (EDC) and ABS-CBN Lingkod Kapamilya Foundation, Inc’s (ALKFI) Bantay Kalikasan program partner to develop a sustainable eco-tourism site in a mangrove forest area in Manito, Albay, a project that aims to help generate livelihood for the residents while preserving the environment.
The identified mangrove forest area is included in areas rehabilitated under EDC’s flagship environmental program, BINHI, through its partner farmer-assisted association, the Alliance of Bacman Farmers Association Inc. (ALBAFAI). The communities residing in the area are included in the host communities of EDC’s Bacon-Manito Geothermal Project (BMGP), which generated 140 MW of clean and uninterrupted energy.
