FILIPINOS now see “greater value in going cashless” when paying for their travel needs, a ranking official of PayMaya Philippines Inc. said on Sunday.
Paolo Azzola, the company’s COO, said the travel market “continued to
be a fast-growing use case for consumers,” with
payments for tickets and accommodations carving a huge slice from the pie in
the first quarter of 2019.
He did not state absolute figures, but noted “PayMaya Business recorded a
significant increase in the first quarter in terms of the number and amount of
credit, debit, and prepaid-card transactions it processed as the acquirer of
top online commerce sites that offer travel services.”
Agoda, an online accommodations booking platform, and flag carrier Philippine Airlines took the top 2 spots in PayMaya’s list.
Aside from their virtual accounts, PayMaya users also use their physical cards when they travel overseas, Azzola said.
“With the fusion of convenience and great deals we are confident to see continuous growth in travel-related transactions as we aggressively widen opportunities for consumers by giving them the means to make purchases with PayMaya, the best travel card out there today,” Azzola added.
To help encourage even more travel transactions through its platform, PayMaya is offering its users a one-of-a-kind travel experience through its “Tara!” travel promo, where account holders can get a chance to win a curated travel package with three companions.
