The average dealer prices of four fertilizer grades in all regions recorded year-on-year increases in March, the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) said in its latest report.
In its monthly report, titled “Updates on Fertilizer Prices,” the PSA said the average dealers’ price of urea rose by 16.28 percent to P1,154.63 per sack in March, from P992.92 a year ago. Compared to its price in February, urea was higher by 0.23 percent than the P1,151.94/sack recorded in February.
“Compared with the previous month’s levels, the average dealers’ prices of urea in March went up in eight regions. The highest price of P1,393.33/sack was still recorded in the Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao [ARMM] while the lowest at P1,031/sack remained in Ilocos region,” the report read.
“Measured from a year ago level, [urea] prices in all regions were higher in [March],” it added.
On an annual basis, the PSA said the average monthly dealers’ price of complete at P1,148.39/sack was higher by 4.22 percent than the P1,101.91/sack recorded a year ago. The March average, however, was only slightly higher than the P1,146.93/sack recorded in February.
“On a monthly basis, price increases were noted in eight regions. The highest price of P1,433.33/sack remained in ARMM, while the lowest at P1,036.80/sack was still registered in Soccsksargen. Prices in all regions exhibited positive annual rates during the month,” the report read.
As for ammosul, the PSA said the monthly dealers’ price at the national level averaged P631.60/sack in March. This was lower by 0.03 percent from the February level of P631.79/sack. On an annual basis, however, it was higher by 7.8 percent.
“Measured from a month ago level, six regions recorded lower prices in March 2019. The lowest price of P552.80/sack was recorded in Davao region. The highest price of P956.60/sack was still noted in ARMM,” the report read.
“Relative to the same month in the previous year, all regions except Calabarzon, registered higher prices during the month,” it added.
The PSA also reported that the monthly dealers’ price of ammophos at P991.84/sack was 8.17 percent higher than the March 2018 level of P916.95/sack. Compared to the February level of P986.19/sack, the increase was only 0.57 percent.
“On a monthly basis, higher prices were posted in all regions except Northern Mindanao and Caraga in March 2019,” the report read.
The PSA said the highest price of P1,264/sack was still observed in ARMM while the lowest price of P928/sack was noted in Ilocos region. Measured from a year ago level, all regions exhibited higher prices during the period, according to the report.
