SUBIC BAY FREEPORT—Some P4.9 million worth of community facilities were awarded to the Pastolan Ayta Tribe by the Subic Bay Metropolitan Authority (SBMA).
Among the facilities that were given to the Aetas are a school building and a health clinic which form part of SBMA’s commitment in promoting the welfare of the indigenous community in this free port.
“The health clinic is expected to serve the 330 families living in the Aeta village, whereas the school building will be used by Grades 4 to 6 students who used to share one classroom,” SBMA Chairman and Administrator Wilma T. Eisma said.
“This is a commitment under a Joint Management Agreement signed by the SBMA, Aeta Tribe and the National Commission on Indigenous Peoples [NCIP] that will provide compensation for the use of the Aeta ancestral domain,” Eisma added.
