SECONDARY schools from Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapore and the Philippines are set to meet from February 21 to 23, 2019, at Lima Park Hotel in Batangas for the first Asean Convergence Secondary Schools Summit #AC3S organized by FAITH Colleges.
The Asean Convergence Secondary Schools Summit (#AC3S) is a three-day summit that aims to bring together secondary schools across Asean to collaborate and build a regional mindset. The summit also aims to make Asean relatable and tangible to the youth. This program is supported by the Philippine Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) and embassies of Asean member-states in the country.
FAITH Colleges, an institution of higher learning and research in the Philippines, has been active in promoting Asean awareness through its different activities. In 2007, when the Asean Secretariat held a tour across secondary schools in the region, Secretary-General Ong Keng Yong visited FAITH Colleges which represented the Philippines.
For the summit’s inaugural run, FAITH Colleges was able to get the support of Diwa Learning Systems, Bato Balani Foundation, and other like-minded organizations and corporations to sponsor the delegates of this year’s summit.
Among the schools attending are SMP Negeri 6 Makassar of Indonesia, Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan (SMK) Guar Perahu of Malaysia, Raffles Institution of Singapore; and for the Philippines, Lyceum of the Philippines University-Batangas, Miriam College Quezon City and Nuvali campuses, Nord Anglia International School, University of Perpetual Help System-Laguna, FAITH Catholic School, and Fidelis Senior High School.
