GLOBE Fintech Innovations Inc. (Mynt), the digital finance services arm of Globe Telecom Inc., has partnered with Qwikwire, a cross-boarder payments platform in Southeast Asia, to facilitate real-estate payments via GCash.
Under the deal, GCash users may opt to pay for their real-estate dues via the digital money app, saving them from the hassle of paying through post-dated checks, bank deposits, or through brokers and property developers.
“In the next two to three years, I firmly believe that there will be a significant change in how we do payments here in the Philippines. In the same way that most Filipinos skipped having a landline in their households and went straight to owning mobile phones, I think we can go from a society where most doesn’t have a bank account to turning their smartphones into a mobile wallet,” Qwikwire CEO Ray Refundo said on Tuesday.
Specifically, the deal will directly benefit customers of property developers DMCI, Century Properties, Italpinas and Revolution Precrafted, among other clients.
“Without a doubt, GCash and Qwikwire can perform better than the traditional payments system, since the convenience and accessibility the partnership will create for the customers are based on the latest available technology in the country,” said Anthony Thomas, president of Mynt.
