PEOPLE always associate me with a love for lipsticks and that association is not unfounded. I own about 70 lipsticks and that is excluding those I have received as press gifts.
Aside from lipstick though, I also love blush. I don’t have 70 blushes but I also have a lot. Aside from lipstick, blush also brightens your face. It is an instant pick-me-up.
I am not yet sure if I prefer creams or compressed powders. I just love blush, period. My trick to making blush last is actually to start with a cream or liquid and then apply a powder over it to “seal” it. I then finish with a drop of MAC Strobe Cream.
I say I have not met a blush I didn’t like so here is a list of my favorites right now (Note: Most of these are good for any skin tone):
- MAC x Caitlyn Jenner Powder Blush Duo in Buddy. This limited-edition blush features a dark blush and a shimmery pinkish color that you are meant to swirl together in your brush. The shimmery color is beautiful on its own because it adds just a touch of brightness and shimmer without being overwhelming.
- Benefit Cosmetics Rockateur powder blush. This is one of the most underrated blushes I have in my stash. If you look at the pan, you’ll see a gold-ish hue but that is really just an overspray. The blush is reddish and surprisingly intense.
- Benefit Cosmetics Gold Rush powder blush. This “golden nectar” is best for those who layer their blushes. The best way for me to use it is layer it under a matte blush for a lit-from-within glow. Those with darker skin tones can use Gold Rush as a highlighter.
- MAC Cosmetics Mineralized Blush in Hey, Coral, Hey…This bright coral, which I have just purchased, is a must-have for summer. This is matte, unlike most mineralized blushes, and a little goes a long way. You don’t need a lot to make it pop. Tip: You should tap your brush out to get rid of excess powder.
- Glossier Cloud Paint in Haze. Almost all of my friends have this and, guess what, I finally got it, too. This deep berry works for a no-makeup makeup look. I was worried at first about how to make it work over liquid foundation so I just don’t wear it with other makeup, just with lipstick and brow products.
- NARS Blush in Orgasm. I have had a love-hate relationship with NARS’s bestselling blush. Right now, it is love. This is the fifth time that I have gotten Orgasm. I hope I won’t give it away again. I’m on a glitter phase right now, so I love it again.
- Sunnies Fluffmate in Baked. This is a lipstick but I love it as a blush and even as an eyeshadow. Multiuse products are so travel-friendly, don’t you think so? The color of Baked on the cheeks is lovely, like a pale peach flush.
