THE Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) has recommended either the suspension or revocation of the driver’s license of a female driver whose potentially deadly attempts to evade apprehension – by trying to run over a traffic enforcer – was the subject of a viral video.
Bong Nebrija, MMDA Special Operations Group head, said that it is now up to the Land Transportation Office (LTO) to act on their complaint-letter on the still unidentified lady driver.
“It is now up to them (LTO) to suspend or revoke the driver’s license based on the circumstances,” Nebrija said over the phone.
Nebrija said that they did everything to get basic information on the driver.
“We know the company but they don’t want to cooperate. I even left my number with them. Anyway, it’s up to LTO already,” he added.
Nebrija said that the driver showed disrespect to the traffic constable, identified as Sandy Bilan, after she refused to show her license.
The MMDA official said the driver has committed illegal parking, obstruction, reckless driving, arrogant driving, and disobedience to a person in authority.
He also noted that driver also has a criminal offense for direct assault on a person in authority.
On October 19, Bilan reportedly approached the lady driver for an illegal parking and obstruction violation, but she refused to hand over her license to Bilan.
The traffic enforcer then asked help from his colleague, but the driver fled after she argued with them.
The two traffic enforcers chased her, but failed to catch her. She was seen going in the direction of North East Greenhills.
