Gatchalian vows to continue enhancing capability of Valenzuela City police

Peace and order leads to economic growth and development.

This is the strong belief of Valenzuela City Mayor Rexlon T. Gatchalian, thus he is thinking of extending additional assistance to the city’s police force, according to Zyan F. Caiña, chief of the city government’s Public Information Office.

Caiña said the Gatchalian administration is looking to donate again several units of vehicles, guns, ammunitions and other items needed by its local police force this year to further boost its anticrime capacity.

But he could not give the details of the future assistance that Gatchalian is planning for the local police unit.

Valenzuela City already gave 60 units of police patrol vehicles worth P61,064,400 and six K9 dogs of Beagle, Belgian Mallinois, Jack Russel and Labrador breeds worth P2,100,000 in January.

The mayor also ordered the release of P4 million in January for the construction of a house for the K 9 units in a 400-square-meter lot.

Caiña, who is also the city’s Awards, Recognitions and Competitiveness Strategist, previously told the media that “each one [of the police patrol vehicles] is equipped with global positioning system and dashboard cameras to ensure efficient and disciplined usage of the police cars. These features also warrant transparent response operation by the local law enforcers.”

“Furthermore, the footage from the dashcams are considered highly reliable evidence in investigating cases,” he said.

He pointed out that “[t]he police vehicles are designed for increased mobility and visibility to ensure the effectiveness of operations around the city, particularly on the fight against the menace of drugs and the threats of terrorism.”

Of course, the K-9 dogs would be a big help to the police anti-drugs and antiterrorism campaign, he noted.

All these assistance worth more than P66 million have a green light from the Sangguniang Panglunsod, as provided by law.

Caiña said Gatchalian’s target is to have a very peaceful and orderly Valenzuela City so more businessmen would invest in the city for its continued economic growth and development.
