TACLOBAN CITY—The Office of the President will conduct a series of consultations to get the sentiments of Yolanda survivors and check the status of unfinished livelihood and housing projects in Yolanda-affected areas in Eastern Visayas (Region 8).
Eight consultations in different areas have been scheduled in five provinces of Eastern Visayas to gather issues and concerns concerning the post-Yolanda rehabilitation projects the government is implementing, especially on housing and livelihood.
In a meeting with the Eastern Visayas’s Regional Development Council, Presidential Adviser on Special Concerns Wendel Avisado said a budget had been set aside for the consultations that will be held in Tacloban, the towns of Guiuan and Balangiga in Eastern Samar, the towns of Carigara and Isabel in Leyte province, Silago in Southern Leyte and in Biliran’s
capital of Naval.
Avisado said President Duterte has ordered all government agencies to resolve problems raised by the people so they will know that the government has not neglected them.
“The President wants to know the status of Yolanda rehabilitation projects,” he said. “We will go to every province. That is how serious the President is.”
The dialogue consultations will be conducted between March 19 and April 19. At the end of the consultations, Avisado’s office will formulate a post-resettlement program for submission and approval of the President and the interagency task force.
Director Kim de Leon of Office of the Presidential Assistant for Special Concerns said the consultations will also check if there are issues of “mismatch” in projects implemented.
