Che-Lu Bar and Grill-San Sebastian whipped Go for Gold, 87-65, to stay in contention for a top two finish in the Philippine Basketball Association D-League Aspirants’ Cup on Tuesday at the Marikina Sports Center.
Michael Calisaan was once again the rock for the Revellers, tallying a double-double of 13 points and 10 rebounds as Che-Lu Bar and Grill-San Sebastian won back-to-back games for the first time and improved to 4-3 won-lost record.
Allyn Bulanadi led Che-Lu Bar and Grill with 15 points, while Samboy de Leon shot three-of-four from three-point range and finished with 14. “We’re more prepared this time,” Che-Lu Bar and Grill-San Sebastian Coach Stevenson Tiu remarked. “I told the boys that we will try to make a statement in this game so we could carry our momentum to our next game.”
The top 2 teams after the eliminations earn outright entry into the semifinals. The third, fourth, fifth and sixth placers advance to the quarterfinals with the No. 3 and No. 4 seeds enjoying a twice-to-beat advantage.
Che-Lu Bar and Grill-San Sebastian didn’t waste time asserting control, taking a quick 15-2 advantage then kept Go for Gold at bay the rest of the way.
The Scratchers shot a woeful 31 percent (25 of 79), and worse, they committed 25 turnovers that led to 33 points for the Revellers.
Justin Gutang topped Go for Gold (2-3) with 12 points and six rebounds.
