Go for Gold-College of Saint Benilde got off to a good start and went on to beat University of Perpetual Help, 81-69, on Tuesday to snap a two-game slump in the Philippine Basketball Association D-League Aspirants’ Cup at the JCSGO Gym in Cubao, Quezon City.
Jjay Alejandro scored 23 points, Clement Leutcheu had 14, while Jerwin Gaco and Justin Gutang contributed 11 apiece for the Scratchers, who repelled repeated comebacks by the Altas.
The trio of Alejandro, Leutcheu and Gaco made their presence felt in the second quarter to help Go for Gold built its first double digit lead at 39-29 advantage late in the second period.
“I think we’re slowly getting the team that we want. But there’s still some room for improvement because we turn the ball over too much,” said coach Charles Tiu, noting the Scratchers’ 30 turnovers, 11 more than the Altas.
