THE future of nonpermanent public servants in Muntinlupa is now secured, following the
closure of the deal on Wednesday between the local government and Social Security System (SSS) for the coverage of around 2,300 contractual and job-order (JO) personnel working in the city hall.
Through the KaltaSSS-Collect Program, these employees, who are not under the Government Service Insurance System law, will be required to register as SSS self-employed members.
Upon registration, they can have access to SSS financial benefits in times of maternity, sickness, disability, retirement or old age and death.
“The city government is committed in providing equal opportunity for all personnel, especially those working in contractual or job-order positions to enjoy the benefits of social security,” Mayor Jaime Fresnedi said.
The local chief executive led the signing of the memorandum of agreement (MOA) with SSS National Capital Region South Division Head Cristine Grace Francisco held at the Muntinlupa City Hall in Putatan.
Also witnessing the ceremony were Muntinlupa City Administrator Allan Cachula, SSS Alabang Branch Head Esmeralda Garcia and other local officials.
The MOA is pursuant to Social Security Commission Resolution 171, series of 2014.
Per the agreement, the city government will facilitate the collection of monthly contribution from the salaries and wages of its JO personnel until their resignation or termination of service contract.
Muntinlupa City Human Resource and Development Officer Erick Tagnia said they will conduct an orientation for the JO workers regarding the implementation of the program.
He added that casual and plantilla (permanent) position holders will also be encouraged to participate in the program as voluntary members.
