The camp of former Sen. Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. has challenged Vice President Maria Leonor G. Robredo to sign a joint motion withdrawing all outstanding motions and proceed to a recount, and “clear the issue conclusively on the ballot images, undervotes and overvotes.”
In a news statement issued over the weekend, spokesman lawyer Vic Rodriguez said Marcos has instructed the drafting of the joint motion.
In so doing, Rodriguez said, “We could hasten the process and go straight to the ballots. The ballots are the best evidence and we should just proceed with the recount.”
Rodriguez added that the young Marcos believes that an issue as fundamental as the conduct of an elections should not be kept hanging for years on end. Unfortunately, he added, “in the vice-presidential race, it has been almost two years and we have yet to see a single ballot.”
Rodriguez said Marcos also believes he’s not only proposing the filing of the joint motion for himself, but for the rest of the Filipino people who deserve to know the truth.”
“Let us open the ballots now and settle this issue once and for all,” Rodriguez quoted Marcos as saying.
