UNIVERSITY of Perpetual Help System Dalta swept Emilio Aguinaldo College (EAC) in the men’s and women’s competitions of Season 93 National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) volleyball action on Thursday at the Filoil Flying V Centre in San Juan City.
The Altas extended their unbeaten streak to four games as they made a quick work of the Generals, 25-14, 25-19, 25-11, with skipper Rey Taneo, Joebert Almodiel and Ronniel Rosales unleashing 12, 11 and 10 points, respectively.
The victory was the Altas’ fourth straight that tied them with the Arellano University Chiefs on top of the standings.
The Lady Altas, on the other hand, labored but won, 22-25, 25-19, 25-14, 23-25, 15-13, over the Lady Generals to improve with a 3-1 win-loss record.
Cindy Imbo scored 17 points, including clutch hits in the fifth and final set, for the Lady Altas, who stayed at third place behind unbeaten Arellano University (4-0) and San Beda (3-0).
EAC, however, stunned reigning titlist Perpetual Help, 25-18, 25-23, 27-25, in juniors play to join College of Saint Benilde-La Salle Greenhills at the helm with a 3-0 (win-loss) card.
Ederson Rebusora unloaded a match-best 21 points, including 18 on attacks, while Lawrence Diones added 15 for EAC.
Perpetual Help men’s coach Sammy Acaylar reminded his boys to stay hungry and work harder because they have yet to face Arellano University and Saint Benilde, last year’s finalists.
“I keep telling them to train and prepare harder and not lose focus because we’ve only played four games,” Acaylar said.
The Generals, who were led by Joshua Mina’s 13 points, fell to their second defeat against as many triumphs.
